In the Huskers first game since firing athletic director Shawn Eichorst, the Huskers lead Rutgers 14-10 at the end of the first half.
Rutgers opened the game by marching 75 yards on 11 plays, but the Huskers answered with a seven-play, 75-yard of their own, which was capped off by an 18-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Lee to JD Spielman.
Lee was 6-for-13 with the aforementioned touchdown and an interception in the half.
Nebraska's second touchdown was scored on a four-yard plunge by Mikale Wilbon with 4:48 left in the half. His touchdown was set up by a 63-yard punt return by De'Mornay Pierson-El.
With the abscence of Tre Bryant, Nebraska used Wilbon, Devine Ozigbo and Jaylin Bradley at running back in the first half. The trio rushed for 69 yards in the first half.
