The UNO hockey team held its annual media day on Wednesday at Baxter Arena. Mike Gabinet is set to begin year two as the Mavs' head coach. In his first season, Gabinet led Omaha to a 17-17-2 record.
"You always hope there's less of a learning curve," Gabinet said about year two. "I think I've already seen that from practice early on in the limited time we have the guys that the habits are a little bit more established now. The culture is a bit more established now. Definitely, have extremely high standards but I think it's going to be nice having year two here where the guys are a little more familiar with what the expectations are."
The Mavericks host Manitoba in an exhibition on Sunday at 5 p.m.
