After starting the season with seven straight games away from Omaha, UNO men's basketball opened up play Baxter Arena on Wednesday night with the Mavericks' first win of the 2017-18 campaign. Omaha held on late for a close 75-73 win over Drake.
In a back and forth game throughout, the Mavs led 34-31 at the break. UNO then withstood the Bulldogs late in the second half to come out with its first victory of the year.
Zach Jackson led all scorers with a game-high 17 points, while Daniel Norl added 16 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
Next up for Omaha, the Mavericks are back on the road and head to the Pacific Northwest to face Washington on Sunday night.
