The bats were firing for Omaha Burke (C&H Construction) Saturday afternoon, as Burke won the state legion baseball tournament, 11-1 over Millard West (Roof Tech). The championship is Burke's first Class A legion state title since 1989.
After Millard West's Max Anderson launched a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, Burke responded in the top of the second, plating four runs. Burke then kept the bats firing, scoring 11 runs in the six-inning victory.
Burke also got a stellar pitching performance from starter Hunter Waugh. He earned the complete-game victory, only allowing the one run in the first inning.
Now, both Omaha Burke and Millard West advance to legion regional play starting Wednesday in North Dakota.
