Elkhorn South prepares to take on Skutt in the Class B State Championship game

The Elkhorn South Storm (12-0) are in familiar territory this week as they prepare to take on Omaha Skutt (10-2) in the Class B State Championship game. The Storm are looking to cap off an undefeated season with a Class B state title.

"We're just excited to be going back to Memorial Stadium, playing an outstanding program like Omaha Skutt," Elkhorn South Head Coach Guy Rosenberg said. "We're excited to get our work in here this week, finish out the week, and then get down to Lincoln and play some football."

Elkhorn South is heading to the state title game for the second consecutive year after beating Aurora for the state championship in 2015. Rosenberg said the recent surge of success comes from the work his team has put in.

"It's so exciting to see that our players have bought in and invested in our offseason program," Rosenberg said. "We have great practices all season long. It's just nice to see them be rewarded with another trip down to Lincoln for all of their efforts."

The Storm came away with a 33-24 win against Omaha Skutt in week two of the high school football season, but Rosenberg knows that beating the Skyhawks is no easy task.

"They're an outstanding program, just so fundamentally sound, physical, and have a strong identity," Rosenberg said. "They have a great dual-threat quarterback, they have the best wide receiver in Class B in Christian Banker, and the best two-way lineman in Class B."

Omaha Skutt and Elkhorn South face-off Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7:15 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.
