OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — If you are working on remodeling your home or spring time home project, Z Design Tile & Stone Showroom is open.
"Whether you want a blacksplash or you want it on your shower wall we have a lot to choose from," said owner Kyle Rasmussen. "Z Design opened up last July. I've been in the design industry for the past 15 years. I was a tile contractor, and I wanted to bring in products. I wanted to bring in what is big, new design, different look on tile. So basically I've done a lot of research and brought in a lot of product throughout the world to Omaha that hasn't been seen before."
They specialize in tile, stone and luxury vinyl tile for homes and businesses and have hundreds of designs. Before the pandemic, they were still a new, local company, and they were gearing up for their busy season.
"We're not getting a whole lot of traffic yet, not like we were in February," Rasmussen said. "February people were kind of getting ready for spring time. Getting ready to remodel work, very busy in spring. Unfortunately, then we had the pandemic."
Rasmussen says he thinks that's because of the uncertainty of COVUD-19 many people were holding off doing home remodel.
"A lot of our business comes from the every day public. They want to do remodel work," Rasmussen said. "That is a big part of our business that has since stopped. Obviously for very good reason. They're not wanting to get out. They're not wanting to go look at tile, they are wanting to stay home. So that took a big chunk of our revenue out. As well as a lot of our regular clients coming in the door just hasn't been here."
Rasmussen says they had to change up their tactics in order to continue with business. Beyond more deep cleaning and sanitizing all services between all customers, they are offering more digital to make customers comfortable when working with designers.
"We will either do a Zoom call with them, a Facetime call with them or talk with them via email or via phone," Rasmussen said. "We will set up examples for them, and we actually deliver to their house if they are within a ten mile radius. If they are outside of that radius, we will UPS or FedEx them so they don't need to come in here. Also if they wanted to, we'll set it outside of our door, and they'll come and pick it up so curbside pick up as well."
