LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Former Husker kicker Brett Maher will take over as special teams coordinator, Head Coach Matt Rhule announced Wedneday. Rhule also promoted Nick Humphrey to co-coordinator. Both Maher and Humphrey were assistants for the Huskers last season. Rhule also announced the hiring of Tyler Yelk as safties coach. Yelk spent the past three seasons with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.
Maher and Humphrey will replace Mike Ekeler who left the program to take the same position at USC.
