OMAHA (KMTV) — There will be no fans allowed to watch Creighton basketball games to start the season the university announced on Monday.

The CU athletic department sent the following email to season ticket holders:

Thank you for your support of Creighton Athletics as a 2020-21 men’s basketball season ticket holder and/or Jaybacker. Your investment is vital to our immediate and long-term success and we appreciate your patience throughout this process.

Due to a number of factors, we have made the difficult decision to start the 2020-21 season without fans in attendance and we are suspending our season ticket program until next year. With the health and safety of our student-athletes and supporters in mind, we continue to explore the feasibility of fan attendance. Should we arrive at a point this season where fans are able to attend in some capacity, tickets would be managed on a single-game basis and we would communicate the specifics of the plan at that time.

Moving forward, it is very important that you visit https://BluejaysPersevere.com[bluejayspersevere.com] to review the information and account options that will be available regarding the payments you have already made or scheduled for 2020-21 season tickets and/or Jaybackers.

Please note an additional communication will be sent to you on Friday, November 13th requiring you to select one of three options regarding your 2020-21 season ticket account.

Thank you for your attention to this important information. We cannot exist without your support and we look forward to communicating with you soon.
