LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska junior wide receiver JD Spielman was named to the Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list on Thursday. This is the second straight year Spielman has been named to the list. The Biletnikoff Award is given to the season's most outstanding FBS receiver.
Spielman is one of five Big Ten players on the preseason list. Heading into his junior year, Spielman has a chance to become the most productive receiver in Husker history. He needs just 68 catches and 1,099 yards to break both records. Last season, Spielman caught 66 passes for 881 yards and eight touchdowns, playing in just 10 of 12 games.
This announcement comes just days after Quarterback Adrian Martinez was named to the Maxwell Award watch list.
The winner of the Biletnikoff Award will be presented live on December 12, at the Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN.
