The Ronald McDonald House is hoping Omaha-area residents will partner with them and others to help families in need.
The charity organization helps families traveling to the metro for medical treatment stay for free. However, over the summer families were moved out of the house temporarily as part of its expansion plan. Recently, they were allowed to move back in and Tuesday the Ronald McDonald House is offering hard hat tours.
As the organization explained, the move was needed.
"We had to say no to families, close to 800 times twice in the last two years, so 1600 times Is unacceptable to say that we can't help you," Executive Director Lindsey Rai Reisner said. "Imagine being one of those families that just traveled across the country and in some cases, across the world, and you get here that you don't have a place to stay."
On Tuesday, they will also unveil the 2018 Husker flag, which can be purchased Friday at McDonald's location around Omaha with proceeds benefiting the families at the Ronald McDonald House.
