Congressional races between Don Bacon and Kara Eastman in Nebraska and Cindy Axne and David Young in Iowa are both getting national attention and both are close, according to recent polls.

A New York Times live poll shows the Republican Bacon leading his Democratic challenger Kara Eastman in Nebraska's second district. Based on a poll of more than 500 people, Bacon holds a 51-42 lead with 7 percent undecided. The NYT poll calls it a good showing for Republicans given the expectations.

Traditionally, the district leans right.

On the other side of the river, Cindy Axne holds a slim lead over two-term congressman Republican David Young in Iowa's third district, which covers Des Moines all the way to Council Bluffs.

Axne holds a 44-43 lead in a district that is traditionally a tossup, but Young will get some help later this week when Vice President Mike Pence comes to campaign for him.
